Operation: Get Off My Ass

At least one mile a day from Thanksgiving to New Year's.
Who's with me?

My run motivation has been next to nothing since Tyranena, and even with a race (or two) this week, I can't seem to get my ass on the treadmill.

I expect a certain amount of waxing and waning of motivation and mileage between seasons, goal races, etc., but I am ready to get back on the horse.

Even my mom is in on it!  She may have had a beer or two in her when she enthusiastically committed to it, but now it's on the internets so she has to.  Right Mom?

Oh you think so, don't you?

She's going to be running her third half marathon in May, and what better way to kick off the training?

My mom is cooler than your mom.
As for me, I've never been able to run through the winter (pregnancy, injury) and I really want to set myself up for some great, more aggressive training in the spring.

Run Streak 2012:  Are you in? Have you ever done one before?  I haven't done one, and I'm looking forward to seeing if I can keep with it.  Although I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to have to fight so that my DailyMile is not exactly seven miles a week.  Ha.

What's the next big race you're training for?  I don't have another big race til April, and I think that is part of my motivation issue.  Running in the USA, here I come.

  1. Nope. No run streak for me, my goal is Crossfit 5 days a week until Feb when marathon training starts. If I run it will only be in a WOD or because it is too beautiful outside to not run (snow run!!!).

And your mom is way, way cooler than my mom :)

  4. I'm in too! Pretty sure I'm obligated now that you have a picture of me in this post.

Way to go Joannie! You have to do it now that it's on the internet.

    The internet never forgets.

  5. No, not this time. I tried doing the summer one but I got injured, so I'm skipping it this time!

  6. Count me out for this one. I've got two big races in December and I'll need some rest days before and after those.

  7. So awesome about your mom! Nope, never done a run streak. Next race for me is Napa Valley Marathon in March. Maybe some small races in between.

  8. Yes to the run streak! I attempted to do the summer one but failed miserably. I'm hoping this one goes better... especially since I have the Disney World marathon in just a little over a month! Let's send each other motivation!

  10. I am in for the run streak. My husband and I did the one this past summer and loved it. It made us get out there even when we didn't want to and made us get creative when life got busy ( more than once we did a run just before midnight in order to get a couple of miles in for each day using one run).
My next "bug" race is the Antham Half Marathon in Virgina Beach in March. My best friend and I are road tripping from Wisconsin to do it. In December we will be doing the Rotary Lights 5k as a family and then in January we have a couples weekend planned to go do the Lake Geneva S-no-w Fun Run 5 mile with my best friend and her husband.
