Marathon Weekend. Crap.

So, looks like I have to run a marathon this weekend.

Sort of crept up on me.  It's not like I didn't know about it - Rachel and I signed up a few months ago with the intent of using it as a training run for The Longest Day.

But then I sort of forgot to train for it.  My longest run has been 14 miles.  I haven't been getting in good weekly mileage for at least a month, and while I just PR'd a half, my longer distance runs have been completely non-existent.

How my half marathon went:

Nailed it.

How this marathon will go:
Windy peeing disaster animated gif
Equal parts stupidity, poor execution, and being covered in bodily fluids.  Should be great.

So there's that.

Be sure to tune in Monday to see how this thing goes.

Give me something to think about during the race that will make me forget about how much running a marathon untrained sucks.... annnnd... go!

  1. LOL! You just did awesome in your half marathon, and I'm sure, even untrained, you'll do good in this marathon. Just remember to fuel & take it slow! When I start a really long run and all I can think about is how stinkin long it is and how much its going to hurt, I tell myself, "I'm just going to run. And run forever and not turn around and I'm gonna love it" (like thinking of myself as an ultrarunner who can run for 24 hours, no problem). GOOD LUCK!!!!

  2. I once did a marathon with Norovirus in the woods, with no one to talk to. I can't imagine it will suck that bad. See you Sunday!!! Or did you already pick your packet up?

  3. I'm pretty sure you said didn't feel ready for the half either, therefore I refuse to ever believe anything you say about running again.

Cheer up buttercup, we'll have too much fun to realize we're not trained. :)

    Also - awesome gifs. Perfect.

  4. I'm actually signed up for the Cellcom Full AND Half Marathon. I dropped down to the Half by buying someone's bib online. But now I sort of want to run the Full?! I am undertrained as well (longest is 17) and haven't run much for weekly mileage this month (63 miles for May) and I had a 13 minute PR at the Oshkosh Half Marathon! We are having the same running life! My heart is tearing in two deciding which one to run on Sunday!

  7. Congratulations on your PR on your last half!
Your marathon may be a bit tough after 18 but this isn't your first time at the rodeo. You understand the toughness it takes. Bite a bullet and zone in on the last 8.2 miles. Think of butterflies and rainbows :)~
